Ilocandia and the Ilocano's. The Great Province of the North

Ilocos region, where the " Golden voice of the North" Ferdinand E. Marcos was born. Though divided into two Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, the province is famous for it's rich culture, delicacies, and historical sights. It has a nostalgic feel once you settled in one of its town, along the entire province are places that can remind us about the past. Across the province are vintage structures like old pre hispanic houses, brick made churches and museums.

The mainland of ilocos is also known for its agriculture. There are tobacco farms, rice and corn fields, fruit and vegetable plantation, salt refinery and fishing farms. Bangui in Ilocos Norte is the birth place of Windmill in South East Asia. While in the southern part is Vigan's Heritage Village popularly know to be the Streets of Crisologo. Today, the Ilocano's are still driven to continue its growth in agriculture and tourism.

The province effort to boosts its tourism is very loud, from the pristine beaches of Pagudpud, fine sands of Currimao, iconic Kapurpurawan rock formation and Paoay's Sand dunes are just few tourist spots to endure. But many have not know that Ilocanos are great in terms of craftsmanship..Many of Philippines great artists were born in the northern most part of the Luzon, one of them is our famous painter, and sculptor Juan Luna. y Novicio, born in Badoc Ilocos Norte.

As we get around the city, we also searched for places where you can stay relax after the trip, with the perfect view of white sand and sound of waves. Sitio Remedios is a perfect place to stay. Sitio Remedios is a unique heritage resort that gives a glimpse of the simple lifestyle during the century of Ilocos Norte.

They serve ilocos famous delicacies like Miki noodles, Bagnet mixed in filipino dishes like Pinakbet and kare-kare.. you'll surely come back because of their tasteful dish. All dish are made-to-order. I suggest, you try their Pinakbet with Bagnet. For directions: Waze or it is just few blocks away from the Max's restaurant.
